Major Activities:
Based on Mandates, major activities of ICAR-ATARI Guwahati are designed to bridge the gap between Research Institution and farmers through KVKs enhancing productivity and profitability in a sustainable manner.
Key activities include:
- Technology testing for identifying location-specific adaptable technologies and recommending to the state departments through the KVKs promoting innovative agriculture practices.
- Organizing Frontline Demonstrations (FLD), transferring and disseminating the latest agricultural technologies and empowerment of farmers, extension workers, and rural communities through training for capacity building and extension services coupled with strong coordination between research institutions and stakeholders.
- Promoting commercialization of agriculture by assisting farmers in connecting with marketing channels and value chains.
- Providing recommendations, policy suggestions, and advisory support to the governments and policymakers on agriculture and rural development, maintaining a strong convergence.
- Implementing several projects of ICAR and different ICAR institutes like NICRA, NEMA, ARYA, Farmers First, and other projects of other organizations like CFLD on Oilseeds, CFLD on Maize, ASCI, and public-private partnership programmes.
- Monitoring and impact evaluation of KVK activities and various agriculture schemes and programmes.
